PERMISSION GIVEN BY CITY PLANNERS TO PROCEED.

The story so far

Since the University of Wales Trinity St David announced their intention to relocate, Uplands Party Councillors have been heavily involved in the communication with the University residents of Cwmgwyn and the Lons to make sure that the application suited everybody's needs and addressed any concerns. Bullet points of the history of this are lower down on this page.

The Planning Hearing - 6th Aug 2019

Uplands Party Councillors Peter May and Irene Mann spoke in support of the application at hearing. The following assurances were granted to residents as the result of the dialogue that Peter had had since 2014 with the University and Pobl, the developer.

  • The lower part of the site would be retained as green space, with the public footpath access to Penlan Crescent at the south being retained.

  • There would be dialogue with the residents of Lon Bryngwyn about the demolition of the existing buildings to ensure this was done as sensitively as possible.

  • There would be no public access to Lon Cwmgwyn and Lon Bryngwyn due to shared concerns with the police about anti social behaviour and to protect the integrity of the cul-de-sacs which residents asked for.

  • The blanket tree preservation order lobbied for by Uplands Party Councillor Peter May would continue to stand.

  • The vehicle access would be an improved one to Townhill Road which will be safer.

l

Thank to the residents who participated in all the dialogue.
