The police announce that Uplands police station is to close. Nov 2006

Residents feelings run high as the feel a need for the service. A petition of over 500 local names is generated.

Uplands councillor Peter May puts the residents case forward. The police agree to find a local premesis to rent.

Peter brings council and police to the negotiating table. Solutions are explored to maintain a Police base in the Uplands community.

The police agree to rent a room in Brynmill community centre. A rent of £1,000 p.a. is agreed. This arrangement is still working 10 years on.  Apr 2007
