It's the year 2000 and the Labour council have opened 118 cases to take action against residents with overgrown hedges.

The Lord Mayor is unaware that his hedge is starting to cause quite a stir with Uplands residents.

Responding to complaints, Uplands campaigner Peter May starts cutting away at the overhanging brambles on Ffynone Road. The story becomes front page news.

The following day an embarrassed Labour council bring in heavy machinery and cut back the hedge.

It's now 2014 and the council are at it again. The trees are now causing the wall to fall apart. They only act when residents ask Uplands councillor Peter May to  Pressure leads to a survey to put things right.
