AUGUST 2022

This month we saw the benefit of our Uplands operative improving standards in the area. We assisted with community projects in Brynmill School and the Summer Playscheme. There was also a drain maintenance Saturday. We also asked formal questions about the condition of Cwmdonkin Park and charging cars from street lamp posts.

JUNE 2022

This month saw the introduction of our dedicated ward operative who will be tackling jobs such as cutting back foliage and keeping kerb lines clean. We have also been helping monitor noise levels from park events with the council and university. We have also been on site at Brynmill Park where the council have been instructed to carry out works to monitor the banks of the reservoir.

MAY 2022

This month Allan, Stuart and Sandra underwent initial councillor training in order to participate in council activities.

We had a number of meetings with key departments within the council to take forward our manifesto plans such as the employment of a cleaning operative.

We went on site with traffic officers to initiate road safety measures and extra residents parking bays.

APRIL 2022

WORK REPORT: We compiled our work carried out for Uplands over the last five years and formed our manifesto. The document was then distributed to residents.

BUS STOPS: We have won our battle to have seating installed on the replacement bus stops in Walter Road and Sketty Road.

MARCH 2022

BUS STOPS: Campaigning to get the seats replaced.

FLYTIPPING:Pursuing a remedy for the tipping at the top of Penygraig Road. Seeking to clear the land at the rear of Penlan Crescent adjacent to the recently swept steps. Clearance of pavements and guttering was carried out on the Hillside Crescent and Richmond Road loop in preparation for the drain clearance.

FEBRUARY 2022

TOWNHILL CAMPUS: We have been liaising with constructors and Pobl over timelines regarding the demolition of the halls of residents building and passing on observations from residents in Notts Gardens to them about the effects of the projects on the street.

THE GROVE: We have spoken with residents about options for the proposed planters which we are helping to fund through the community budget. These will replace some of the rotting posts. We have also carried out a clean up of the road signage.

JANUARY 2022

Focus on this month was on our parks. CWMDONKIN: We pursued the repairs on the damaged blockwork. BRYNMILL: We lobbied the council to replace equipment in the ageing play area sooner rather than later. Also we have made representations to repair the climbing wall and carry out basic maintenance on the pavilion which was refurbished in 2007 with a lottery grant.

DECEMBER 2021

The growth around traffic islands and other kerblines, does make the area look shoddy. We have dug round the Sketty Road pelican crossing island and hope that the improvement is welcomed. We will continue with other islands ourselves whilst speaking with the council to get a proper schedule in place to raise standards in the area.

NOVEMBER 2021

This month we have had a busy month focussing on the day to day issues of running the ward. We have made representations to the council to redouble efforts on leaf sweeping. Also we have worked with the other authorities on parking issues. We have also carried out an appraisal on storm damage, supported affected residents and brought incidents to the council's attention.

OCTOBER 2021

Stuart attended the a litter pick in St Helens and a Cwmdonkin Park meeting as well as the cycle lane consultation where he asked questions to council officers on behalf of residents.

Sandra made enquiries to council officers on behalf of residents about the restoration of Singleton Park.

Allan and Peter have been working on the back lanes categorisation document as well as making enquiries to facilitate speed indicators on Glanmor and Sketty Roads.

SEPTEMBER 2021

This month we carried out street surgeries in the various parts of the ward knocking over 600 doors. We also dealt with a high volume of casework and did a walkabout on the Lons to check on what needs to be done and our ideas for the future.

Stuart helped with a litter pick in St Helens.

AUGUST 2021

This month we have spent time counting up the survey question results on the questions about your likes and suggested improvements for Uplands. We also read the comments and had couple of evenings discussing them. The survey report will be ready in the next couple of days.

Allan spent time resolving a flytipping issue in the lane behind St Helen's Avenue and Crescent.

Sandra and Stuart went to a couple of residents' meetings in the open air with Stuart and Peter also working together to prune bac

JULY 2021

The team for the May 2022 elections has been working hard to clear back lanes. Drainage channels were dug out and reinstated with the council collecting the loaded bags. The lane behind Rhyddings Park Road and Victoria Terrace was worked on.
