WE HAVE SECURED AN ENQUIRY INTO THE CHAOTIC PERMIT SYSTEM
HMO tenants are offered permits for bays where there are no spaces.
The council changed the residents' parking permit issuing system to an electronic service. When they did this a special loophole was set up for HMO tenants. This allowed them to obtain permits without producing evidence that an established resident needed to do. The resulting chaos meant that there were more permits available than parking spaces.
The Labour cabinet try to deny this is happening
We formally question the cabinet as to why this being allowed. The response is to deny it altogether. This is despite the council website promoting temporary permits for HMO tenants.
Meanwhile there is also chaos with the technology
Nearly 2 years on and parking wardens are unable to scan number plates as the technology is too slow. The council have being paying a contracted company for the whole system. We have therefore run out of patience and initiated a scrutiny enquiry.
