FRONT GARDEN COMPETITION

ENTER OUR 2022 COMPETITION!

What you have to do

  1. You  can enter your own front garden or nominate one that catches the eye providing the garden is in the Uplands Ward.
  2. To enter email cllr.peter.may@swansea.gov.uk stating the address of the front garden.
  3. Feel free to take before and after pictures.
  4. Judging will take place in the last week of July when the gardens are in their prime.

When judging we will be taking the following into consideration:

  • How the  garden makes a positive visual impact on the street scene.
  • Structure, use of aspect and space.
  • Flower colour and use of plants.
  • Quality of plant care and general health.
  • Potential all year interest.
  • Improvement to the garden (this is where before and after pictures could be useful)

At the awards evening there will be prizes for various gardens and a grand prize winner.

Good luck and happy horticulture!

PRIZES

There are prizes for winners and runners up for various categories in the form of vouchers to spend in the Swansea Botanical Gardens shop. All entries receive a certificate.

2021 COMPETITION VIDEO

There were 153 entries this year in the competition. Once again we went out to deliver certificates. Hopefully next year we will be able to resume the celebration evening event.

2020 COMPETITION VIDEO

This year we went out to the gardens to deliver certificates. There were also botanical garden voucher prizes for winners and runners up. Look at the video to enjoy the gardens.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR 2019 ENTRANTS

For our first competition we had 47 entrants. A lot of these came to the awards evening which where many new friendships between Uplands residents were made. Thank you to everyone who made an effort to look after their front garden. It really has a positive impact on the street scene and gives pleasure to passers by.
